Does my home need whole-house humidification?
Answer: A whole-house humidifier might be right for you if your home has one or more of the following:
- Hardwood flooring
- Wood furnishings
- Paintings or artwork
- Musical instruments
- Uncomfortable temperatures in the winter
- High utility bills
Why is humidity important?
Answer: Your home is a lot like your body — it needs to stay properly hydrated in order to maintain the comfort of those living in it. Air that’s too dry can act like a giant sponge, soaking up moisture from everyone and everything in your home, including woodwork, wood floors and furnishings. And it takes a toll. Dry skin, chapped lips, dry nasal passages and static electricity are just some of the dry-air symptoms that can lead to discomfort.

Can I use a humidifier with an Electronic Air Cleaner?
Answer: Yes. Evaporative type humidifiers release water as pure vapor. Water vapor will not create any problems with an electronic air cleaner. Misting or spray type units mounted on the return air plenum could cause problems with an electronic air cleaner.
Does Honeywell manufacturer a thermostat that will allow me to control my humidifier as well as the heating and cooling equipment?
Answer: The Honeywell VisionPRO IAQ thermostat that provides a single point of control for humidification, dehumidification, ventilation, heating and cooling in a house. For more information on this thermostat, please click here.
How often should the pads of the humidifier be replaced?
Answer: Honeywell recommends replacing pads once every season.
How should I set my humidifier control?
Answer: Optimal Relative Humidity (RH) is defined by industry experts* as between 40-60% RH on an average annual basis, and 35% during the heating season in dry climates. An environment with too little humidity leaves the body vulnerable to viruses and bacteria, and can cause woodwork in the house to shrink and crack. On the other hand, too much humidity creates ideal conditions for mold and mildew growth.
The recommended settings are based upon the outdoor temperature:
-20F (-30C) or below 15%
-10F (-24C) 20%
0F (-18C) 25%
10F (-12C) 30%
20F (-7C) 35%
Higher temp 40%
As with any recommended settings, these are general recommendations. Other factors in the application can affect the humidity level achieved in your home. If you notice condensation on your windows, please lower the setting on the humidistat.
I have a UV light installed in my duct work. Can I still install the Honeywell humidifiers?
Answer: Honeywell recommends a minimum distance of 3 feet between a UV light and plastic fabricated devices (such as humidifiers and non-fiberglass media filters)
I have hard water supply; can I still use the humidifier?
Answer: The humidifier can be used on a hard water supply however; the pad may need to be replaced more frequently because of possible buildup of minerals diminishing its ability to operate normally. If there is access to a water softener, then it is recommended that the water coming to the humidifier passes through the softener first.
My humidifier pad does not have a black mark. How do I know which side is up?
Answer: Please verify the model number of the humidifier pad. If the model number is HC26P, then these humidifier pads do not need to be orientated in a particular direction for proper operation. The model number for these pads would be available on the carton.
What if my HE360 or HE365 Humidifier is not delivering enough humidification?
Answer: There are a variety of factors that can affect the level of humidification that can be achieved. The first consideration must be to proper sizing of the humidifier. Please verify that the Humidifier either the HE360 or the HE365 fits your home’s size and how tightly constructed your home is using the following guide.
House construction maximum area the (HE360 / HE365) can adequately humidify:
Loose - 1900 Square Feet
Average - 2700 Square Feet
Tight - 4200 Square Feet
Please also verify that there are no mineral deposits on the humidifier pad. Accumulations of mineral deposits on the humidifier pad can affect the ability of the pad to hold water. Change the humidifier pad if necessary.
Please be aware that colder outdoor temperatures limit the amount of humidity that can be added to your home without resulting in condensation on the windows.
The more the heat runs the more that this will dry out the air passing through a furnace or a heat pump application.
If after considering the above factors, you still feel that you are not achieving adequate humidity levels in your home, please consult your local heating and cooling contractor.
Where can I buy the replacement pad for my humidifier?
Answer: The replacement pads for a humidifier are available online through www.amazon.com, and www.medwing.com. Alternatively, some model numbers are also available through local retail stores. You can also check with your local heating and cooling contractor for assistance with purchasing humidifier pads.
Where can I purchase a Humidifier Installation Kit?
Answer: For an easier installation of your humidifier, we recommend purchasing the installation kit. The installation kits are available at the most Retail Home Improvement Stores and large Hardware Stores.
Make sure you get the correct Installation Kit Model Number for your Humidifier’s Model Number.
• Installation Kit Number 32005847-001 is for the HE220 or HE260 Humidifiers.
• Installation Kit Number 32005847-002 is for the HE120 or HE160 Humidifiers.
• Installation Kit Number 32005847-003 is for the HE360 Humidifier.
Typically the Installation Kit’s packaging will say what model Humidifier it is used with, however if you need to order one through the Store the model number will be useful for the Retailer.
Where do I look for the model number of my humidifier?
Answer: The model number of the flow-through humidifier is located at the bottom of the unit, near the water supply valve on a white sticker and begins with HE. The model number for TrueSTEAM Humidifiers is located on a sticker on the left side of the top of the unit and begins with HM.
Where should I install my HE360 Powered Flow-Through Humidifier?
Answer: The HE360 Powered Flow – Through Humidifier can only be installed on the warm air supply of the furnace or Air Handler. The humidifier needs to draw heated air across the pad in order to maximize the humidification output.
If the HE360 Powered Flow – Through Humidifier is mounted on the return side it will greatly reduce the efficiency of the Humidifier. If space restrictions prevent installation on the warm air supply, you should consider the HE260, a bypass flow - through humidifier.
